Waltham Toll Bar Academy’s production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will feature 200 students, with shows on July 15 and 16 at Grimsby Auditorium.
A cast of 200 students will perform on July 15 and 16 at 7 PM. Tickets cost £10 for adults and £8 for concessions. You can buy them at the box office.
Gemma Carter, Co-Director of Arts and Head of Drama, said this is a big milestone. She hopes the show will attract the community and families of the students.
The show promises great songs, dance routines, and acting. They aim to build on the success of last year’s Matilda production.
Last year’s show received rave reviews. The Matilda cast even revisited their performance during the first assembly of the school year.
Rehearsals for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory are going well. Mrs. Carter mentioned that the larger cast is exciting and they are working on various scenes.
The bigger stage at the Auditorium allows for a more impressive set. The venue can hold 1,200 people, a big jump from their previous 300-seat venue.
William Rowe, 12, plays Charlie. He’s excited about his role and is working hard to learn his lines. He enjoys drama and wants to be an actor.
Sofia Reeves and Georgia North, both Year 9 students, play Veruca Salt and Violet Beauregarde. They are thrilled to have landed their desired roles.
Sofia loves her character and aims to gain more experience. She also dances at The Dance Academy and trains at The Royal Ballet School.
Georgia is excited about performing at the Auditorium again. She feels it will allow more people to see the show.
Principal Nigel Whittle is pleased the show will be at the Auditorium. He appreciates the hard work of the staff and the talent of the students.
Tickets for the public shows can be purchased online at Grimsby Auditorium’s website.
