Cymbria Whitley, a 91-year-old artist, will showcase her work for the first time in Cleethorpes, alongside her son’s photography.
Cleethorpes: A talented 91-year-old painter is finally getting her moment in the spotlight. Cymbria Whitley has painted all her life but never felt confident enough to show her work. That’s about to change!
She’ll be exhibiting her stunning watercolour landscapes at Cleethorpes Library. The exhibition, called ‘The Road to Cleethorpes Pier,’ opens on March 1. It’s a big deal for her, and it’s about time!
Her son, Tim Whitley, is also part of the show. He’s showcasing his black-and-white photos of Cleethorpes. Tim found some of Cymbria’s hidden paintings while cleaning out her house. He was blown away by her talent!
After sharing her artwork online, the response was amazing. People loved her paintings and encouraged her to exhibit them. That’s when Tim decided to make it happen.
They teamed up with the library, where Cymbria used to work. The exhibition will also feature works from other local artists. It’s a real community effort!
The exhibition runs until March 27, with a special opening event on the first day. Tim is excited for everyone to see his mum’s incredible art. She’s always been shy about her talent, but now she can finally shine.
Cymbria’s paintings often reflect local history, inspired by her family’s past. It’s a beautiful way to connect with her roots. Plus, proceeds from the exhibition will support a charity that means a lot to them.
It’s a heartwarming story of family, art, and community. Can’t wait to see Cymbria’s work on display!
