Gloucestershire: There are ongoing issues with flooding on a key road, the B4215. This road connects Gloucester and Newent and often floods near Malswick Mill.

The flooding can get so severe that vehicles can’t pass. After Storm Éowyn, the problem returned, prompting local leaders to demand a permanent fix.

Councillor Julia Gooch from Newent and Taynton has reached out to the highways officer about the flooding. She expressed frustration that Newent is nearly cut off from direct routes.

She noted that the B4216 at Taynton has been flooded since November, and the B4215 at Malswick keeps facing the same issue. She believes this situation has gone on long enough.

Gloucestershire County Council is aware of the problem and is working on solutions. They are collaborating with a landowner to create ditches to help manage the flooding.

A specialist jetting lorry is also scheduled to clear blockages on the B4216 at Taynton. This will help drainage pipes work better and reduce flooding.

A spokesperson for the council mentioned that heavy rain has caused flooding in the Forest of Dean. They are taking steps to address the issues on both the B4215 and B4216.
