Installed in 2022, the £2.25 million system supports emergency services across North East Lincolnshire. Footage often serves as evidence for Humberside Police investigations.
From April to September 2024, the system helped issue sanctions for various crimes. These include arson, burglary, and violence against individuals.
Most crimes resulted in charges, especially in August. The CCTV system is key to making North East Lincolnshire a safer place to live and work.
In Grimsby town center, crime dropped by 11% in 2024. This success is thanks to initiatives like Safer Streets 5 and Operation Mastery.
This year, CCTV footage helped secure sentences for two offenders. One received a suspended prison sentence for harassment, while another faced fines for driving offenses.
Councillor Ron Shepherd emphasized the importance of the CCTV system in their safety campaign. The council maintains a zero-tolerance policy for lawbreakers.
Claire Jacobs, a local policing inspector, praised the CCTV team for their role in crime detection and community safety. Their efforts are making a positive impact.
