Clearwell Primary will have another, full Ofsted inspection soon. An earlier check on December 3, 2024, showed some weaker areas. Now, there will be a graded inspection.

Staff and kids get along really well. Kids feel secure at school and trust staff to help them with problems. It sounds like a caring place.

The school has a new, tougher curriculum. Some subjects are doing well, while others just started. Kids are missing some key skills, and special needs support is uneven.

The headteacher, Joanne Jones, is happy with progress and welcomes the feedback. She believes inspections should help schools grow and felt this inspection was positive overall.

The school cares about health, and kids know how to live healthily. They learn about mental health too and enjoy playing outside, which is great!

The school celebrates kids’ talents. Even young kids perform concerts, and older ones represent the school by doing sports and singing locally.

Leaders talk well with parents and experts. The school works fast to improve learning, but teaching isn’t consistent across subjects. Teachers don’t always know what to teach, which makes it hard to check student progress.

Lessons might be too easy or hard, and knowledge gaps aren’t always fixed.

Reading is a strong point though. Changes to the reading plan help kids, especially young kids learn well. Most kids become good readers.

Kids behave well at the school. The school helps them understand their actions. Misbehavior and suspensions are down a lot, and the school feels calm.

Kids should learn about modern Britain better. They struggle to remember UK cultures and don’t really know British values.

Good work with parents is boosting attendance. Relationships help remove problem barriers, which helps kids come to class.

The school keeps kids safe.

Ofsted suggests improvements. The school should define what kids need to know and help teachers check student learning. Support for special needs kids must improve, and modern Britain understanding must grow.

The school has 43 students currently. There will be a new full inspection soon, and it should happen in one or two years. You can read the whole report on Ofsted’s website.
