North East Lincolnshire: The council is thinking about becoming a registered housing provider again. They used to manage housing until 2005 when they handed it over to Lincolnshire Housing Partnership.

Now, they feel the pressure to help the homeless. Changes in social housing rules mean fewer homes for those with complex needs. This has made it tough for the council to find places for people in need.

Currently, they lease about 126 properties and own just three. They’ve made deals with private landlords for temporary housing. But they still end up using B&Bs and hotels sometimes.

If they become a registered provider, they could offer more stable housing options. However, they still need to gather data to weigh the pros and cons.

Since they started looking into this, Ongo Homes has come to the area, and another provider is on the way. There are also plans for social housing in new developments.

The council is busy with other projects too, like stricter rules for bad landlords and developing brownfield sites. They even suggested a field trip for councillors to check out good social housing examples. Everyone seemed on board with that idea.
