Grimsby: Peter Kennedy, the former Principal of Franklin College, just got some amazing news. He’s been awarded an MBE! This honor is for his hard work in education.
Peter retired last year after leading the college since 2018. He was totally stunned when he heard about the award. It’s a big deal for him and the college.
He’ll receive the medal at a special ceremony at Buckingham Palace or Windsor Castle. How cool is that?
Peter shared with Grimsby Live that this award feels like a fantastic retirement gift. He said, “It’s just a really incredible achievement.”
When he joined Franklin College, the area was facing challenges. But he and his team worked hard to turn things around. They aimed for excellence, and it paid off.
Thanks to their efforts, the college received an ‘Outstanding’ rating from Ofsted. Inspectors praised the teaching quality and the welcoming atmosphere.
Peter emphasized the importance of teamwork. He collaborated with other organizations to ensure students got the best education possible.
He’s proud of what they achieved together. The college now has great facilities and a friendly environment for students.
Peter said, “I really could not be prouder to have been a part of our journey.” It’s clear he has a deep love for the college and its community.
