Gloucestershire Police arrested 117 individuals for drink and drug driving offenses between December 1 and January 2 during Christmas.
Police arrested 68 people for drink driving, and some refused to provide breath samples for analysis. Fifty-nine of these people will go to court later, having already been charged with offenses.
Forty-nine people were arrested for drug driving offenses. Police released 46 of them for investigation and eight on bail for blood analysis. This analysis requires more time to complete.
Inspector Murawa thanked officers and staff, appreciating their work during the operation. He also thanked the public for their help in reporting suspected drunk and drug drivers to police.
Murawa expressed disappointment about the arrests. He noted that 117 drivers risked their own lives and the lives of others. Police are constantly working to keep Gloucestershire roads safe.
Gloucestershire Police ask for the public’s help and want any information about impaired drivers. Call 101, or 999 if a crime is happening now, and give details, including driver and vehicle descriptions, as well as the direction they traveled.
