Elliot Reynolds, 21, is Grimsby’s first qualified brewer since the 1960s. He completed his Docks Beers apprenticeship.
Elliot started there in 2023. He studied at Nottingham University. HIT training supported him.
Elliot said it was hard work, balancing studies with brewery work. It was a labor of love for him.
Docks Beers is in a converted church and opened in 2018. It is top-rated in Lincolnshire, and Elliot is the first apprentice since the 60s.
Elliot is thrilled to finish his studies, calling himself part of a new generation. He wants to become a Master Brewer, and Docks Beers supported him, especially Lewis Birch.
Elliot likes two beers the most: Dark Wolds, brewed with Munyards, and Overtime from Docks Beers.
He likes brewing Overtime lager, now a brewery staple. He enjoys seeing people drink it because he helped make that beer.
Paul Savage, managing director at Docks Beers, said they are very proud of Elliot. He is a credit to everyone, and Elliot’s learning has inspired others.
Passing the apprenticeship is a big deal. Paul thinks Elliot should feel proud, as it’s the first time since the 1960s.
