Grimsby’s Top Town Market will temporarily relocate as it closes for redevelopment. The new site opens in Spring, ensuring traders have a place to operate.
Grimsby: Exciting news for the Top Town Market! They’ve found a temporary spot as the current market prepares to close. This change comes as the market will shut down in early February for some big redevelopment plans.
The market will move to a unit in Freshney Place, where One Beyond currently operates. That store will be out by April, making way for the market. There will be a little gap before the new site opens in Spring, so shoppers will have to hang tight.
Not all traders will make the move, though. Some cafés can’t join the temporary market because they need special setups. The council is working with them to find new spots in town.
This redevelopment is a big deal, costing nearly £50 million. It includes a new cinema, a food hall, and a permanent market space at the old BHS site. Sounds like a fun upgrade for the area!
Cllr Philip Jackson, the council leader, expressed his excitement about the traders moving to the temporary market. He believes it will be a hit with shoppers. The new location has hosted pop-up markets before, so it should work well.
The council is committed to helping traders transition smoothly. They’ve been in touch with them to discuss their needs and support them through this change. It’s all about keeping the community thriving!
