Plans for a new self-build home and garage in Hartpury, Gloucestershire, have been approved by the Forest of Dean District Council after a thorough review.
Gloucester: Plans for a new home and garage near the A417 have been approved. The Forest of Dean District Council discussed a self-build two-story home at Woodbine Cottage in Hartpury.
This project was brought to the development management committee because it’s outside the settlement boundary. This goes against the council’s planning policy. The site includes an orchard and a paddock.
The new home will cover about 83 square meters. It will have an oak-framed porch, a large balcony, solar panels, and dormer windows. The exterior will feature off-white walls, dark red roof tiles, and grey UPVC windows and doors.
Inside, the ground floor will have an open-plan kitchen and dining area, a lounge, a study, a WC, and a hallway. The first floor will include three bedrooms, a bathroom, and an en-suite.
Councillor James Bevan proposed granting permission, following the officer’s recommendation. Councillor Julia Gooch seconded the motion.
Concerns were raised about protecting existing trees. Councillor Andrew McDermid asked how the conditions would be enforced. Officers assured that the development must follow the planning conditions, or it would be referred to the enforcement team.
The councillors voted unanimously to approve the plans.
