Gloucestershire: A major part of the A417 will be closed for two weekends. This is due to the Missing Link project. National Highways is working on drainage and utilities.

The closures will affect the road from the A46 Brockworth junction to the Air Balloon roundabout. A long 10-mile diversion will be in place. Drivers should follow the diversion signs instead of using Sat-Navs.

This £460 million project is moving forward and is set to finish in spring 2027. It has already changed the area, including the loss of the Air Balloon pub and new road layouts.

The closure dates are:

  • 11pm on Friday, February 21 to 6am on Monday, February 24
  • 11pm on Friday, March 7 to 6am on Monday, March 10

Overnight closures will happen from the A46 Brockworth Junction to the Air Balloon Roundabout.

Steve Foxley, the Project Director, understands closures can be frustrating. He advises travelers to avoid the area if possible. If you must go, allow extra time for your journey.
