Police data from England and Wales exists, covering the year ending September 2024. They recorded over five million crimes, and Leicestershire Police recorded 96,411 of these.

Leicester has the highest rate in Leicestershire, with 122 crimes per 1,000 people. This makes it the 19th most dangerous area, followed by Charnwood with 76 crimes, and North West Leicestershire with 70.
Rutland is the safest local area, with a crime rate of 41 per 1,000 people. It is the fifth safest area in England and Wales.
National crime data reveals some trends: Homicides decreased by four percent last year, while knife offenses and firearms offenses rose. Robbery and shoplifting also increased.
A Crime Survey in England and Wales occurred, estimating 9.5 million headline crimes, including theft, fraud, and violence. This is a million more than last year, largely caused by fraud.
The survey also estimates harassment cases: About 4.4 million people faced harassment, 2.2 million experienced domestic abuse, stalkers targeted 1.6 million, and one million suffered sexual assault.
