McDonald’s has confirmed plans for a third restaurant in Cheltenham, promising job growth and easier access for residents in the area.
Cheltenham: McDonald’s is set to open its third restaurant in town. They confirmed this on Tuesday, February 4. The new spot will be at the old TGI Fridays location on Gloucester Road.
This new restaurant will create many jobs for locals. It will also make it easier for people in south and west Cheltenham to grab their favorite meals.
Currently, residents in areas like Leckhampton and Shurdington have to travel far for McDonald’s. The new location will be on the busy A40, near GCHQ and the Premier Inn.
A McDonald’s spokesperson shared their excitement about the opening this summer. They expect to provide up to 120 full and part-time jobs.
Planning permission has already been granted to change the former TGI Fridays into a flexible restaurant or takeaway. McDonald’s is also applying for some building updates.
The TGI Fridays closed in October, part of a larger trend affecting many locations. However, McDonald’s taking over this site isn’t part of a plan to buy more closed TGI Fridays.
