Havelock Academy has unveiled new gym facilities funded by a £65,000 grant, benefiting students and the local community alike
They received a £65,000 grant from the Opening Schools Facilities Fund. This fund helps schools improve their facilities and keep them open for everyone after school hours.
With this money, they created a new fitness suite and upgraded the swimming pool, tennis, and netball courts. Active Humber, a charity focused on health and sports, made this possible.
Niya and Ayesha, two students, shared how much they love the new gym. Niya said it helped her meet new friends and boosted her confidence. Ayesha added that the gym equipment helps her get stronger for other sports.
Shane Ward, the Head of Sports Enrichment, expressed his excitement about the funding. He thanked Nicola Massingham for her support in securing the grant.
Emma Marshall, the Principal, is thrilled about the improvements. She mentioned that they can now run girls’ football and netball sessions, attracting more students to join.
If you’re interested in using these facilities, you can book them online. It’s a great opportunity for everyone in the community!
