Scunthorpe college launches new T Levels after a £1.6m investment. Courses offer classroom learning, job experience and skills in key sectors.
T Levels equal three A Levels; they focus on hands-on learning. They are practical, not just theory. The principal says the new courses are exciting and started in September 2024. Students get classroom time and job experience. They can pursue careers in engineering and healthcare.
Experts and employers helped create the courses, giving students valuable skills that will help them in engineering and healthcare. Phillips 66 and Care Plus created a placement plan. Students spend 105 hours working, followed by a second placement, which other companies may adopt.
An MP spoke at the launch, saying skills are key for Britain and this investment helps. He’s happy with the college’s growth and said students like the unique courses. Students respect the teachers and the college connects them to local companies.
The investment is for the young people, helping them learn skills that will help our future. It will help with homes and energy and also helps the NHS. Staff and students are building the future and the T Levels are what the area needs. Companies support the college.
