North East Lincolnshire Council has recommended Sharon Wroot as interim chief executive starting June 1, following Rob Walsh’s departure after 11 years.
Grimsby: North East Lincolnshire Council has announced its recommended interim chief executive. Sharon Wroot is set to take over starting June 1.
Rob Walsh, the current chief executive, is stepping down at the end of May. He has served for 11 years and has over 30 years of experience in local government.
The council’s appointments committee, which includes councillors from different parties, has put forward Wroot for the role. Her appointment still needs full council approval.
Wroot is a qualified accountant. She joined the council in 2010 and has held several senior positions, including chief finance officer and deputy chief executive.
She expressed pride in the council’s work and emphasized the importance of improving opportunities for residents. Wroot also thanked Walsh for his leadership during his tenure.
Council leader Cllr Philip Jackson praised Wroot’s commitment and vision. He believes her interim leadership will help the council continue its important work.
Wroot will also participate in The Great Grimsby Sleepout, an event to raise funds for the homeless charity Harbour Place. Other senior staff will join her, with over 80 participants expected this year.
Councillor Stewart Swinburn highlighted the significance of senior leaders participating in the sleepout to raise awareness and funds for a worthy cause.
If you want to support the Harbour Place Sleep Out, you can donate through the council’s team. For those facing homelessness, the council’s Home Options team is available for assistance.
