A new plan aims to convert farmland in Gloucester into a secure dog walking area, catering to local pet owners and their furry friends.
The folks behind this plan run Country Kennels and Cattery. They want to use land that isn’t really good for farming anymore. It’s near Prior’s Norton, and they’re hoping Tewkesbury Borough Council gives them the green light.
They’ve got some neat ideas, like secure parking and lighting. Plus, they’ll have areas for dog waste, which is super important. The paddock would be right next to the A38, making it easy to get to.
Now, the land is in a flood zone, but the applicants say they won’t build anything permanent. Just some extra hard surfaces and fences. They believe this won’t make flooding worse. If it does flood, they’ll just pause the business until it’s safe again.
This area isn’t great for traditional farming, so it makes sense to use it for something else. The plan is to let dog owners bring their pets to play off-leash. It’s perfect for anxious dogs or those needing some training.
They’ll have a booking system, so you can reserve your time online or by phone. Only those who book will get access, using special codes for the gates.
The paddock would be open from 6 am to 8 pm, but during daylight saving time, it’ll be 8 am to 4 pm. No floodlights will be used, keeping it natural. They’ll also provide water and bins for dog waste.
Sounds like a fun place for dogs, right? You can check out the application and share your thoughts if you’re interested.
