Cleethorpes: The council leader shared that work to revamp Market Place is close to starting. This project is part of a larger plan funded by £18.4 million from the government.

Cllr Philip Jackson mentioned that there might be some disruption later this year. All three projects funded by the Levelling Up Fund will be happening at the same time. He used the saying about making an omelette to explain that some disruption is expected.

During a Facebook Live Q&A, Cllr Jackson answered questions about various topics, including the regeneration of Cleethorpes and parking issues. One resident asked when the work would begin.

The three projects include a new building on Sea Road, improvements to Pier Gardens, and the Market Place itself. The Market Place changes aim to make it more pedestrian-friendly, with a possible events space and reduced vehicle access.

Cllr Jackson confirmed that work has already started on the new building in Sea Road. He expressed confidence that the projects would be completed on time to utilize the government funds effectively.

However, he cautioned that there would be significant work happening simultaneously, which could lead to some challenges. He hopes the community will be patient as these important projects move forward.

Utility work for the Sea Road building began in autumn 2024, with completion expected in late 2025. The Market Place and Pier Garden projects are set to finish by 2026, with a contractor for Market Place expected to be appointed soon.
