Exciting news! Talented students from Scunthorpe are ready to perform a unique show that promises to be a memorable experience for everyone.
Scunthorpe: A group of talented Performing Arts students is gearing up for their first public show. They’re bringing ‘A Monster Calls’ to life on stage. It’s a big deal for them!
There are 21 students in the cast, including nine final-year students. They’ve already received over 30 offers from drama schools and universities. How cool is that?
The story follows Conor, a young boy dealing with grief while caring for his sick mom. A Monster comes to help him through tough times. It’s a touching tale.
This play was adapted for the stage by the Bristol Old Vic in 2018. It even made it to the big screen with Liam Neeson. People loved its emotional depth.
Charlie Thompson plays Conor. He shared how the course has helped him grow. “It’s helped me with script work and character development,” he said. It’s great to see them bonding as a team.
The show is on Thursday, February 6, at Frederick Gough School. Don’t miss it!
Students from other courses helped out too. Digital students designed promotional posters, and there were over 20 entries. Tyler’s design won, and he dedicated it to his mom.
“I’m so ecstatic that my poster was chosen,” Tyler said. It really captures the show’s tone.
Tickets are just £5 and can be bought by scanning a QR code. It’s an affordable night out!
Laura Dent, the Performing Arts Tutor, praised the play. “It’s an amazing story with complex characters,” she said. The students are really pushing their skills.
So mark your calendars for 6pm on February 6, 2025. It’s going to be a fantastic performance!
