Gloucestershire faces a second red alert flood warning as heavy rain raises river levels, threatening properties and caravan parks in the area.
Gloucestershire: The Environment Agency has issued another flood warning due to heavy rain from Storm Eowyn. This warning follows a previous alert for the River Severn at Severn Ham, Tewkesbury.
Now, a second warning is in place for the River Severn at Apperley and the Leigh area. The agency expects river levels to stay high for the next few days.
They reported that river levels are rising at the Haw Bridge gauge. Flooding of properties, roads, and farmland is likely overnight into Wednesday morning.
Areas at risk include Gabb Lane in Apperley and local caravan parks. The peak level at Haw Bridge is expected to reach between 4.6m and 4.8m on Wednesday afternoon.
The agency is monitoring the situation closely and working with emergency services. Residents are advised to move valuables to safety.
Flood warning areas now include the River Severn at Apperley, The Leigh, Deerhurst Walton, and Prior’s Norton. Other areas include Severn Ham, Abbey Mill, and Shakespeare Court.
As of 4:40 PM, the River Severn at Haw Bridge was at 4.64 meters. Flooding is possible if it exceeds 4.70 meters. The River Avon at Tewkesbury was at 3.80 meters, with flooding possible above 3.60 meters.
The Met Office forecasts no rain for Tewkesbury or Gloucester, but some roads remain closed due to flooding.
Tonight, expect cloudy skies with some showers, easing overnight. A patchy frost is possible in rural areas, with a low of 2 °C.
Tomorrow, some rain may reach the southern parts, but most areas will stay dry. The maximum temperature will be around 8 °C.
For the rest of the week, expect early frost and fog clearing on Thursday, leading to a dry day with sunny spells. Friday and Saturday will be cloudier with some rain.
