Grimsby: A couple has brightened the lives of many. Tracey and Martin Connolly have raised nearly £20,000 for St Andrew’s Hospice with their dazzling light display.

Every year, they deck out their home with thousands of lights. This festive season, they raised £3,340 alone. It’s amazing how much joy they bring to the community.

Their winter wonderland attracted hundreds of visitors in December. Most left a donation, which is fantastic. Martin mentioned that Storm Darragh hit during the first weekend, which might have affected their total.

He shared that they raised £339 on the first day and £319 on Christmas Eve. If it weren’t for the storm, they could have hit £4,000.

Martin is meticulous about securing the lights. He makes sure everything stays in place, even in high winds. Now, he’s busy packing away the lights and a Santa sleigh that was a big hit at the opening.

The grand opening featured festive music from local bands and choirs. Kids loved taking photos with Santa, making it a memorable event.

Looking ahead, Martin is already planning for Christmas 2025. The choir has promised to return, which is exciting.

He loves seeing the joy his display brings to others. While others relax at home, he’s up on a ladder, working hard. But it’s worth it for the smiles he sees.

Parents and kids enjoy the magic of Christmas lights. Even if they don’t donate, the excitement is what matters.

In the early years, they raised about £300 to £400 for the hospice. Over the past decade, their efforts have truly paid off.

Emily Aitken from the hospice expressed gratitude for their hard work. She highlighted how important community support is for their mission.

It costs over £6 million a year to run the hospice, with only 18% funded by the government. They rely on generous folks like the Connollys to help cover the rest.

If you want to support, donations can be made on their website.
