Three men face trial June 16 for the murder of Kirk Marsden, who died after being hit by a vehicle on Christmas Day.
Kirk went to the Royal Preston Hospital, but he died there early on Boxing Day. Police later found a Toyota Land Cruiser on Brindle Street in a car park.
Kirk loved Blackburn Rovers, and the club asked fans to applaud during the 37th minute of the Burnley game on January 4. They said Kirk was to attend a match on the day he died.
People left flowers near The Gate Street Bar & Grill, and Kirk’s family made a statement. They said “To our hero, spread your wings,” and added, “Your partner Leanne and babies love you.” They also said, “You really were like no other.”
Police arrested three men and charged them with Kirk’s murder. The men are Thomas Ward, Michael O’Neill, and James Ward. Thomas Ward, age 58, has no fixed address; Michael O’Neill is 35 and lives in Blackburn; and James Ward, age 26, also has no fixed address. The trial begins June 16 at Preston Crown Court.
