Grimsby: A street argument turned violent when a man threw a glass at a woman. She was hit in the face and immediately covered in blood.

The man, Bradley Harrison, claimed the woman spat at him first. This led to a heated exchange that escalated quickly. Harrison, 25, admitted to wounding the woman on May 18, 2023.

The incident happened around 8:30 PM on Pasture Street. A group of youths surrounded the woman, leading to hostile exchanges. Harrison threw lemonade at her before throwing the glass.

The woman suffered a cut to her eyebrow and a suspected fractured eye socket. She didn’t attend follow-up hospital appointments.

Harrison walked away after the incident. He has a history of violence with 14 previous convictions. The glass was whole when thrown, and it’s unclear if it broke.

The woman later reported scars on her face and a significant bump on her lip. She expressed feeling self-conscious and afraid to go out alone in Grimsby.

Harrison claimed he was just passing by and didn’t know the woman. He said she was shouting at the youths and claimed she threatened him.

His lawyer said Harrison had kept out of trouble for six years and showed remorse. He wished he had walked away instead of reacting.

The judge noted the impulsive nature of Harrison’s actions. He received an 18-month suspended sentence, 200 hours of unpaid work, and 25 days of rehabilitation.
