Grimsby: A woman had to leave her home after a workman slapped her bottom. He was installing a TV when he made unwanted advances.

The 19-year-old victim shared her experience in court, visibly upset. Jeffrey Lewsam, 54, from Grimsby, admitted to the sexual assault.

During the installation, Lewsam slapped her and leaned in to kiss her. He also made inappropriate comments, saying, “This goes no further than us.”

When the woman became distressed, he left. She reported the incident to Humberside Police, who arrested him the next day. Lewsam denied the allegations during his police interview.

The victim expressed her fear of being stalked in her impact statement. She said, “I don’t feel comfortable in my own home. I suffer with anxiety, and this has made it worse.”

Lewsam has a history of 11 convictions for 16 offenses, including violence. His lawyer argued that he hadn’t offended in over ten years.

Judge Tahir Khan KC acknowledged the incident’s impact on the victim. He sentenced Lewsam to four months in prison, suspended for six months.

A restraining order was also placed on him, preventing any contact with the victim for five years. He must notify the police of his address for the next six years.
